Our two leads were night and day but yet perfect pieces of a puzzle. Stay tuned. Sidenote : I'm rating this book 4 stars but it should be 3. I'm pretty sure I knew this was half a story when I snagged it. Unfortunately, I had forgotten by the time I started listening to it. Or fortunately depending on how you see it because if I'd remembered, I'd have abandoned it. As it is, I got to the end and was relived that the author wasn't going to cram the impossible into a very short space after blowing the "relationship" up so thoroughly.
I spent this entire story waiting for Zaires to give me something to redeem Marcus. He starts off thinki I'm pretty sure I knew this was half a story when I snagged it. He starts off thinking of Emma as something to get out of his system. So his pursuit is with the intent to use and discard so he could move on to the kind of woman he really wants Emma is definitely not that kind of woman.
So not only is his motivation completely physical but he sees people as objects to use for his own gratification and that makes pretty much all his action come from a borderline evil place. And he hasn't changed by the end of this part, either—she's still this obsession he can't get out of his head and the only change is that he is no longer pursuing her to get it out of his system. No, he's pursuing her "for as long as this obsession lasts". In other words, it's still all about him and what he wants and not even a little bit about her.
So he's a dead loss, but she doesn't make much sense, either. I mean, she's pretty level-headed and she's fairly well-grounded. So it's a total mystery to me how she can flee to her family for a long weekend, but also to get some distance from him thinking "I've fallen in love with him, I'd better go away so I can recover and keep him from hurting me more".
The thing is, I'm wondering what she fell in love with. Yeah, the sex is good and she's attracted to him. But he's been a giant snot-weasel to her again and again and there's no care or kindness in him. Yeah, he gives her outrageous gifts but that's just because he has more money than sense and nothing else he's obsessing over at the moment.
So she fell in love with his money? Yeah, I won't be bothering with the second half of the story. A note about Crude language : In addition to seeing Emma as something to use for his own gratification, he also views women in general in unflattering sexual terms and a couple conversations with his "friend" are bro enough to choke a frat house president. This crude relationship with sex also manifests when talking about, having, or thinking of sex.
So take this tag very seriously. A note about Steamy : I forget how many explicit sex scenes there were, but it was a lot given how short this is. So it's the high side of my steam tolerance, but didn't exceed it. It was all over-the-top, of course. Sex is, however, the one area where Marcus is human enough to consider that someone else might be affected by his actions. He's not sweet or kind or anything, but it's the one area he actually solicits Emma's input or shows any kind of care at all.

This time around Ms. Zaires does something a little different with a CR featuring a Wall Street billionaire Marcus and a young woman Emma still trying to find herself and living with her three cats. A mix up has these two meeting and Marcus rethinking what kind of future he wants and with what type of woman.
Now while I loved the fact Ms. Zaires stepped into CR unfortunately it didn't work for me as much as I hoped. I honestly didn't feel any chemistry and I found both characters forgettable. The story is really slow and for me I just needed more. The book ends with a cliffhanger. Jun 19, Coco. V rated it really liked it. Enjoyable story with a flawless writing as always! The powerful self-made billionaire is a man obsessed and more than ever determined to get his red-haired kitten in his life for good.
So heartfelt, witty, HOT and heartwarming all wrapped up into one. Glad I looked at a couple reviews on this before I got too far.

I know he is rich and all but doesn't he have any friends? Nevertheless I can say that AZ knows how to write and she has created an enjoyable read and although I was peeved because you know this has a cliffhanger, I am very intrigued to see how it shall be continued. He is supposed to meet with Emmaline, a rich and polished lady who is a candidate to be his future wife. She is supposed to meet Mark, a dude from Tinder or something like that. By mistake, they end up having a coffee together. And that's how Marcus obsession with Emma starts. He is overwhelmed by lust for her and is determined to have a fling with her, before starting a relationship with a different woman.
I have to admit that the book wasn't bad. I have to admit that the book wasn't bad But it really wasn't good. I didn't like any of the characters on it. Marcus acts like a crazy person, with poor social skills. He is totally and unhealthily obsessed with Emma, in a way that is impossible for her not to notice and be creeped out and yet, she doesn't realize that. And Emma She is obsessed with her damn cats, it's all she ever talks and thinks about.
Every time they came into picture, I would stop reading, which is why it took me so long to finish this book.
Also, what kind of names are Cottonball, Mr. Puffs and Queen Elizabeth? Were they named by a ten-year-old or by a woman who is in her mid twenties? The second books will be published later this month can I stop and mention that there really was no need to split the story in two books? I guess we'll see if I read it, depending on how bored I am. It did feel insta love a bit, and it sometimes had too many internal thoughts, which I ended up skimming and is the reason for the 4 star.
It was also OTT at times, but that didn't really bother me. Not sure if this needs to be a duet though seeing as nothing really happened in this book. This was the perfect light read that I needed right now. I loved it! Absolutely outstanding painting Bryan, they are, imho, the very best I've seen you do. You've even picked out the US colours on their belt buckles!!! Wonderful, simply wonderful.
I'm also pleased to see you go with the preferred black uniforms, and is that a gloss varnish finish I spy on their helmets? Are you going to properly the coat the other three-quarters of each mini ;- What combination of greens did you use btw, as it stands out very nicely.
Oh, wow! I am overwhelmed by your kind words, Simon. With a project like this, I pulled out all the stops to paint the figures to the very best of my abilities. This really was a labour of love and still is as I strive to complete my collection.
I would agree that these are some of the best figures I have ever painted. Yes, the uniforms should be black. Yes, the helmets have been gloss varnished. So too, have the Lawgiver Pistols. And no, the rest of the figures will not be gloss varnished!
Why spoil them? That is because the early figures were painted using the old Citadel paints before they got renamed and changed. Goblin Green was the main colour I used.
However once I abandoned the Citadel paint system and switched to Foundry Paints, their paints dominate my Justice Department. I then add highlights with Foundry Bright Green 25B. I hope that helps, Judge Moore. I agree with Simon, arguably your best painting yet! The belt buckles are delightful and the greens are fab. Top, top work Bryan. Many, many thanks, Med Judge Nash. I really needed a steady hand to paint those belt buckles, I can tell you.
